A Rundown of the Saudi Pro League’s Participants im the AFC Champions League QuarterFinals
This week marks a return to continental football as three Saudi Pro League clubs fight for a place in the semi final.
First up is Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr who will be facing Al Ain away in the UAE. After dispatching of SPL’s Al Fahya in the last 16, Al Nassr will be feeling good about their chances of advancing to the next stage. With Al Hilal seemingly running away with the league trophy, the AFC Champions League is Al Nassr’s best chance at silverware this season.
Al Nassr will welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo after he sat out their 4-4 draw against Al Hazem. The 39 year old will be well rested and ready to show his prowess especially given his stellar record in knockout competitions. With Anderson Talisca scoring a hatrick over the weekend, Al Nassr’s attack has the talent and manager Luis Castro will only need to shore up his defence to ensure the attacking efforts do not go to waste.
League leaders Al Hilal will be facing the SPL’s reigning champions, Al Ittihad in the other quarter final. The two sides met last Friday and Al Hilal emerged with the three points in a 3-1 scoreline. They will be hoping for a similar display in the two legs of their AFC Champions League encounter.
