Al-Ittihad Sack Nuno Espirito Santo Following Recent Losses

Al-Ittihad Sack Nuno Espirito Santo After Poor Results

Al-Ittihad have terminated a contract with Nuno Espirito Santo. The head coach has been sacked following poor results in the Saudi Pro League and AFC.

Nuno took over the job in July 2022. After being released by Tottenham Hotspur, the head coach decided to embark on new possibilities. However, there were rumours that he had problems with Karim Benzema and organising the squad.

The Portuguese manager is perhaps best known for his stint with Wolves from 2017 to 2021. He then moved to Tottenham but lasted four months being eventually replaced by Antonio Conte.

Assistant coach Hassan Khalifa will take an interim role as a manager. According to various sources, Al-Ittihad are already looking for a replacement, targeting Zinedine Zidane, Laurent Blanc and Julen Lopetegui.

Al-Ittihad currently sit 6th in the Saudi Pro League, having 21 points after 12 matches. The club also lost the AFC game against Air Force Club of Iraq 0-2.
