Injured Neymar to be Deregistered by Al-Hilal as Saudi Pro League Plan for More Signings from Europe in the Winter Transfer Window
Saudi Pro League rules limit non-Saudi players to eight for every squad. Al-Hilal has used all its slots with Neymar, Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Ruben Neves, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Malcom, and Michael.
This means that for Al-Hilal to strengthen and replace Neymar for the season, they have no choice but to either sell or deregister one of their non-Saudi players. Manager Jorge Jesus is keen to strengthen the team with a foreign left-back. Therefore, this has forced them to the next logical thing, deregistering Neymar for the season.
The Brazilian record scorer picked up an injury in a World Cup qualifying clash against Uruguay, forcing him to undergo surgery to treat the ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.
The former PSG and Barcelona forward is expected to be out until the end of the season, which gives Al-Hilal the right timing to deregister him and plan the squad for the rest of this season.
Al-Hilal are at the top of the table by four points and will look to press home their advantage in the market with new signings in January.
