Saudi Pro League Leaders Al-Hilal Hit Cloud Nine as they Hit Bottom Club Al-Hazm for Nine
Al-Hazm witnessed first-hand the quality and ruthlessness of the Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal when they were put to the sword in a 0-9 thrashing.
It was the top team of the league versus the bottom team, and the gap in quality showed in the end, a yawning chasm characterized by the nine goals scored by six different Al-Hilal.
The 0-9 win was Al-Hilal’s seventh consecutive triumph in the Saudi Pro League as they solidified their top-of-the-table berth ahead of a one-on-one clash against second-placed and in-form Al-Nassr next Friday.
Al-Hilal had already scored three by the time the halftime whistle was blown. Goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic in the 14th minute, Mohamed Kanno in the 32nd minute, and Mohammed Al-Qahtani in the 43rd minute put Al-Hilal in cruise control.
Brazilian Malcom took center stage in the second half, grabbing a hattrick in the 52nd, 55th, and 85th minutes. In-between, Sale Alshehri in the 79th minute and Mohammed Alburayk in the 81st minute added to the tally before midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic added gloss in the 93rd minute to make it 0-9.
Ahead of hosting Al-Nassr next Friday, this was the perfect warm-up for the leaders. A win over Al-Nassr will open a seven-point gap at the top and give them complete control of the title charge.
