Al Hilal Triumphs Over Al-Taawoun To Qualify for the Semi-Finals on Their Way To Making it 19 King Cup Finals Appearances
Al Hilal welcomed Al Taawoun to the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in the quarterfinal of the King’s Cup on Monday. They have been in splendid form in the Saudi Pro League and currently find themselves in the top spot of the league table.
The hosts cruised past Al Taawoun to proceed to the semi-finals slated for Monday, December 11. Al Hilal dominated the first half despite the crossbar denying Al Taawoun in the 28th minute. Although it took injury time for them to break the tie, Michael found the net in the forty-second minute.
Two minutes after the second half’s resumption, Alexandr Mitrovic scored a header and doubled the lead with an assist from Milinkovic-Savic’s left foot.
Al Taawoun consistently failed to capitalize on easy scoring opportunities, like the late-game reflex save that kept Yassine Bounou’s clean sheet from Fattah intact in the 75th minute. Malcolm finally took the match home by scoring the third goal.
This triumphant result ensured Al Hilal kept their splendid form in check as they went on with their strong campaign for the King Cup trophy.
