Al Hazem Breaks Three-Match Losing Streak But Fails to Do Enough to Garner Three Points Against Damac
Al Hazem had to settle for a draw against Damac after both teams failed to score in a 0-0 stalemate. The draw means Al Hazem broke their three-match losing streak, but it was another example of dropping crucial points that will count significantly in the race to avoid relegation.
Damac looked like the side playing with more attacking intent but only registered three shots on target the whole game. Nicolae Stanciu started off with a tame shot that Al Hazem goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen easily collected in the 12th minute.
Al Hazem’s chance of note came just after the 30th minute mark when Mohammed Al Thani shot towards goal despite the tight angle. However, Damac goalkeeper Moustafa Zeghba was on hand to deny him. Al Hazem was keen to break the stalemate, with Fazi Selemani having his shot deflected away from the goal. Later, Captain Toze suffered the same fate after some neat interplay in the Damac box.
It seemed like Al Hazem had finally broken the stalemate in the 43rd minute, as Toze slotted the ball home after a Yousef Al Shammari pass. However, the celebrations were short-lived, as a VAR review ruled out the goal due to a foul in the build-up. With the draw, Al Hazem remains at the bottom of the table with 16 points while Damac drop to eighth position with 35 points.
