Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in Talks with Georginio Wijnaldum over a Potential Move
Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq has opened talks with Georginio Wijnaldum to explore the possibility of the Dutch midfielder swapping Ligue 1 for the Saudi Pro League. PSG have made it clear to Wijnaldum that he is not a part of the club’s plans, and the Dutch international has been training away from the first-team squad since the start of preseason.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, former Liverpool captain and current Al Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard has expressed a strong desire to add Wijnaldum to his midfield to reunite him with former teammate Jordan Henderson, who joined the Saudi Pro League side this window.
Georginio Wijnaldum, renowned for his pivotal role in Liverpool’s recent success under Jurgen Klopp, had arrived at PSG with substantial expectations. However, the transfer did not work out as expected, and after spending last season at AS Roma on loan, there’s no genuine interest in the veteran until now.
PSG are ready to give the green light to the potential move, but the final decision rests with the former Newcastle midfielder.
