Al Hilal Shifts Focus To The Asian Champions League As The Quadruple Dream Remains Alive
Still unbeaten this season, league leaders Al Hilal are on track to complete the quadruple this season. Up next, they face UAE’s Al Ain in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League, one of the trophies they hope to lift this season.
The Saudi Super Cup was the first trophy Al Hilal collected last week when A Malcom brace helped them beat Al Ittihad 4-1. They have seven matches remaining in the Saudi Pro League and are 12 points clear of their nearest opponent, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. At the end of this month, Al Hilal will again clash with Al Ittihad in the King’s Cup semi-finals.
The injury of top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic has not slowed Al Hilal down, with other players stepping up to fill the gap left by the striker. Should Al Hilal get past Al Ain and proceed to win the AFC finals, they will lift the trophy for a fifth time, making them the most successful club in the tournament. Al Ain is no easy walkover, having dispatched off Al Nassr in the previous stage of the competition. The Hernan Crespo-led squad will be determined to be the first to beat Al Hilal this season.
