Al Ahli Looking at Brazilian Pair of Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison as Possible Allan Saint-Maximin Replacements

Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison Celebrate a Goal During International Duty for Brazill

Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are considering moves for English Premier League forwards Richarlison (Tottenham) and Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal). With Allan Saint-Maximin gone to Fenerbahçe on loan, the team needs to replace him in preparation for the 2024-25 season.

Last summer, Al Ahli spent heavily in the market, securing the services of top talent from the European leagues, including Franck Kessie, Roberto Firminho, Edouard Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Riyad Mahrez. However, they only managed third place behind winners Al Hilal and first runners-up Al Nassr. A squad revamp is needed for the Jeddah-based side.

Reports indicate that Al Ahli is looking to bring in players, with Richarlison and Jesus touted as possible replacements for Saint-Maximin. Manager Matthias Jaissle is assessing both players to determine who will better fit his side. The move for the two has not reached advanced stages, and the club is ready to widen its search should Jaissle be unconvinced about the pair.

Richarlison has a healthy scoring record in the English Premier League, with 73 goals for Watford, Everton, and Tottenham. He’s also scored 20 international goals for Brazil. However, he’s rubbished reports of moving from England, saying, “Regarding what’s been said in the media in the last few days, it’s fake news. I will NOT leave England ahead of next season.” This might make a move for him impossible, but there is a chance that Al Ahli can sell him on their project.

Four-time Premier League winner Gabriel Jesus struggled with injuries last season and played only 17 times in the 2023-24 season, managing only four goals. Arsenal might be looking to sign another player in his position, and Jesus might be open to a new challenge.

Whether Al Ahli moves for either player remains to be seen. Jaissle’s side is intent on challenging for the Saudi Pro League and competing in the AFC Champions League.
