Al-Ahli in Fourth After Beating Al-Wehda 3-1 On Saturday

Al-Ahli Saudi produced a scintillating performance at home to Al-Wehda to send a reminder to the rest of the league that they will be serious contenders come the business end of the Saudi Pro League.

Their 3-1 win allowed them to move up the table to fourth with 22 points, level with a resurgent and in-form Al-Nassr, one behind second-placed Al-Taawoun and four behind leaders Al-Hilal.

Allan Saint-Maximin broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute and gave the hosts a valuable lead just before halftime. Al-Wehda started the second on the front foot, pressurizing Al-Ahli, leading to the own goal by Abdulbasit Hindi in the 51st minute, pulling the match level.

Roger Ibanez grabbed a goal in the 68th minute to restore Al-Ahli Saudi’s lead in the game, and it is not more than what the hosts deserved given their dominance.

Summer signing from Manchester City Riyad Mahrez got in the action and grabbed a goal in the 84th minute, ensuring the three points for Al-Ahli Saudi on Saturday.
