Abderrazak Hamdallah on The Double As Al Ittihad Dispatches off Al Riyadh With Ease
Moroccan international Abderrazak Hamdallah was the star of the night for Al Ittihad against Al Riyadh as his brace secured the three points for the hosts. Even though Karim Benzema was on the pitch for 71 minutes, his striking partner shone on the day.
Hamdallah only needed 12 minutes to score his first with a placed shot from the edge of the box. He was the top scorer last season and has maintained his scoring form this season, with the brace taking him to 13 goals in 16 matches. He’s now in fourth place on the scoring charts behind Cristiano Ronaldo (21), Aleksandar Mitrovic (19), and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou (14).
Missed shots from Hamdallah and the returning Benzema punctuated the rest of the first half. The hosts persevered into the second half and almost lost the three points in the 90th minute when Knowledge Musona nearly scored with a header, but it was off target.
Hamdallah sealed the game in the 97th minute with an outrageous goal from the halfway line, lobbing the ball into the net to make the final scoreline 2-0. The win now leaves Al Riyadh in 15th place with 19 points, a point above the relegation zone. Al Ittihad are now in 5th with 34 points, a solitary point behind fourth-placed Al Taawoun.
