Saudi Pro League’s Second All-Time Goalscorer, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Makes Switch From Al Ittihad to Al Shabab

Abderrazak Hamdallah Gestures With His Finger in A Past Match For Al Ittihad.

After spending two years at Al Ittihad and winning both the Saudi Pro League and the Saudi Super Cup once, Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah is now an Al Shabab player. The striker was unveiled on Tuesday.

Al Shabab will boast of having secured the services of a prolific goal scorer who places second on the Saudi Pro League’s all-time scoring list. Since signing for Al Nassr in 2018, Hamdallah has been a mainstay in the League, scoring 129 goals (77 for Al Nassr and 52 for Al Ittihad). At Al Nassr, he won the Saudi Pro League once and the Saudi Super Cup twice.

In his first season at Al Nassr, he scored 34 goals, a feat that helped his team lift the title. The number of goals was the all-time scoring record in a single season and remained in place until the 2023-24 season when another Al Nassr player, Cristiano Ronaldo, beat the record by scoring 35 goals in a single season. During his time in the Saudi Pro League, Hamdallah has managed double figures every season, with his least prolific season being the 2020-21 season, when he scored 15 goals.

The Morrocan international joins Al Shabab after another stellar individual season with Al Ittihad. With 19 league goals, he ranked third in the SPL’s top scorers’ list. Al Shabab will hope that he continues his streak of consistency given the lack of goals in their team, with their top scorer in the 2023-24 season being Yannick Carrasco with only seven goals.
