With Jurgen Klopp Gone at The End of The Season, Mohamed Salah to Saudi Might Be A Viable Transfer
On 26th January, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced his decision to step down from his role as Liverpool manager. Having joined the club in 2015, Klopp was instrumental in the club’s effort to bring Salah to Liverpool.
The pair have enjoyed success together with the key highlights being a Champions League trophy and the English Premier League title. Klopp’s departure will likely see the club struggle with transition and a new manager would wish to imprint his identity into the team.
Even at 31 years old, Salah has been a revelation this season with 8 assists and 14 goals in 20 appearances. The next manager will want to keep such a player on the squad. However, Salah may not wish to stay too loong at the club as see his abilities decline. With the uncertainty that comes with a new manager, the Liverpool and Egypt captain may be more open to a Saudi move than last summer when Al Hilal reportedly placed a $200 million bid on him.
Unlike other players like Jordan Henderson who have found it challenging to adapt to life in Saudi Arabia, Salah is from Egypt, a country in the Arab world that shares many similarities with Saudi Arabia in terms of its culture.
Given the change in circumstances, it is likely that more Saudi clubs will try and sign Salah. Al Hilal will not be the only ones in the race and might face additional competition from other European clubs given that Salah continues to deliver peak perfomances each week.
